What is the format of the classes?

Classes are professionally pre-recorded without a direct professor-to-student interaction. This allows students to learn at their own pace, on their own time.

Do I have to be a finance or business major to take the course?

No, we encourage all types of majors to participate. Sample majors include: Finance, Economics, Accounting, Marketing, Communication, as well as non-business related majors.

Do I have to pay for the online EIOC coursework?

There is no cost to the student or the university to participate in the program; it is industry sponsored.

Can I take the course if my university is not enrolled in the program?

Yes, on a limited basis we accept students in this manner. Please contact us for details.

What steps do I take if I want to enroll my university?

Contact a professor or a counselor in the career services department at your university. Have them research the EIOC website and set up an introductory call with us.

Can I access the content after the completion of the course?

Yes, we encourage you to use the EIOC as a resource for your future.

If I do not pass any of the seven tests, can I retake them?

The course is designed to teach the information, not trip up students with tricky exams. As such, you may retake the tests as many times as you want until you reach a passing score of 80% or above.

Is it possible to take the EIOC course over the summer?

There is a limited summer program available. Please contact us for details.

What if I have problems meeting the session deadline?

Under extenuating circumstances, we will accommodate extensions.

What feedback do I receive during the semester?

We respect the privacy of the student; therefore, we interact mainly with the designated university contact to inform them of the progress of each student.

Do you share any of my private information?

No.

What do I put on my resume after completing the program?

Upon completion, you will be given exact language to include on your resume.

Why should I participate in the Resume Hub?

By participating in the Resume and Internship Hub, your experience will be put directly in front of relevant hiring managers for internships and entry-level positions.  It is advisable to take advantage of every opportunity available to you when seeking an internship or future employment.

What happens after I submit my resume?

Once your resume is included in the Resume Hub, your resume will be included in database searches for any opportunities that match your profile with a prospective job or internship.

Do I have to pay to take part in the Resume Hub?

No, it is free for students.

What does a FundFire subscription do for me?

It keeps you abreast of current industry news, as well as new products and technologies. By scanning the headlines daily and reading articles that interest you, you will gain valuable insight into current events and the terminology used in the industry.

Why should my university participate?

The wealth and asset management industry is moving rapidly. EIOC serves as the perfect complement to business school curriculums, allowing students to gain insight into today's products, trends and practices in the wealth and asset management industry. Increased knowledge surrounding current job opportunities alone will provide added value to your students.

We are not currently a part of the program, how do we get involved?

First, explore the EIOC website.

Next, have whomever the university deems to be the appropriate party or parties set up a 30-minute introductory call with us. You can contact us here. 

What are the responsibilities of the participating university?

First and foremost, have a professor, career counselor, and/or several students review the course materials.

Next, use our University Resources to self-select materials to promote the program on your campus.

Lastly, assign a university representative (this could be a student, officer in the student finance club, career counselor, professor, etc.) to receive bi-weekly student progress reports and monitor the program to completion.

What is the cost structure of the program?

EIOC is an industry-wide sponsored initiative with no cost to the student or the university.

How do we ensure the continuing success of the program on our campus?

Maintain continued contact with us, including phone calls and sharing how your university is finding success with EIOC.

Encourage students to take advantage of all that is offered through the program, inclusive of the Resume Hub, FundFire, and use of optional training modules.

How does EIOC promote our students for jobs and internships?

One of the advantages of Envestnet Institute On Campus is our constant communication and contact with the advisor and wealth and asset management community.

Graduates of the EIOC program are promoted to prospective employers through industry publications and career networking events held by our industry sponsors.

Which areas of the university do you typically interact with?

This varies with each school. We work with whomever the school feels is the best fit for us to interact with. This can be someone in the career services department or  the dean’s office, professors in the business school, members of the student finance club, etc.

 

What types of reporting will the school receive? How often will we receive it?

The university will receive bi-weekly reports detailing each student's progress towards course completion.

How often do you communicate with us?

Typically, every two weeks via email detailing your specific students' progress.

Are marketing materials provided?

Yes,  A toolkit is available in University Resources.

Can we have more that 25 seats in the program per session?

We are flexible in the number of additional seats per university. Please contact us to discuss further.

Why should I hire an EIOC graduate?

EIOC graduates are motivated students who have opted to take this course, in their own time, in addition to their usual classwork.

Many of the EIOC graduates have already had summer internships within the asset and wealth management industry.

Given their training through the program, EIOC graduates are likely to know the basics of many jobs within the industry, as well as know which jobs they prefer.

What are the benefits of using the Resume and Internship Hub?

The Resume and Internship Hub can take the burden off the employer of having to interface with each student interested in a possible position.

Access to experienced candidates that have been trained and prepared for first day employment or internship positions, adding value on day one either way.

Act as concierge between hiring managers and candidates offering diverse talent across entry level job positions.

How do I initiate a search for experienced candidates?

The process begins with a conversation with a dedicated EIOC Administrator. From there, they will take your specific requirements and utilize their database to show the viable candidates.

How specific can I be in my search requirements?

During your conversation with the EIOC Administrator, you may detail the specifics of your hiring requirements.

What are some examples of specific skill sets EIOC graduates possess and jobs they are suited to?
Sample skill sets: analytical skills, writing skills, marketing skills, project management skills, technology skills, portfolio management skills, and personal financial planning skills.

Sample jobs: internal service desk, operations, portfolio design, junior analyst, digital marketing associate, and associate for RIAs.

Will there be prospective employees for me to hire even if there is not an EIOC affiliated university near me?
Yes, we have found that for the most part, students are very mobile and willing to relocate.

Keep in mind, EIOC is constantly expanding geographically.

Why should I become a sponsor?

By becoming a sponsor, your firm is making a measurable difference in an established initiative to solve our industry’s talent gap.

Each sponsor has its own distinctive identity within the program itself, i.e. the opportunity to provide content.

How do I become a sponsor?

Since our objective is a limited number, each prospective sponsor works with the EIOC board member to find their best fit within the program.

Prospective sponsors typically bring multiple constituencies to a conference call, inclusive of their firm’s marketing department, senior management, human resources, and individuals involved in a community or industry outreach program.

What are some examples of sponsor's responsibilities?

Sponsor responsibilities can be tailored to meet the objectives of the sponsoring firm, Some potential responsibilities include but are not limited to: acting as a board member for the EIOC, contributing distinct content for student advancement, setting the initiative strategy moving forward, helping raise funds beyond sponsor obligations, and hiring EIOC students for internships and jobs,

What types of firms are you looking for as sponsors?

Inclusive, but not limited to, asset management firms, FinTech firms, broker-dealers, and any major custodian in our industry.

What is the ideal number of sponsors the EIOC is hoping for?
We are looking for a selective group, between six and eight firms, to financially support this initiative and play an active role in its governance.
What is the cost of being an EIOC sponsor?

Typical funding is between $50,000 and $75,000 annually per sponsor, with a minimum three-year commitment.

Can I add additional colleges and universities to the program as a sponsor?

Yes, we encourage each sponsor to bring additional colleges and universities to the program.
